Prince William County Circuit Court Clerk

The Circuit Court Clerk's office is the main source for court records and land records in Prince William County. The office holds civil case files, criminal case files, land records, fiduciary records, and marriage license indexes. A large portion of these records are available online without a trip to the courthouse. The clerk's office is inside the Judicial Center in the county.

Court case information going back to July 1, 1989 is available online. You can search using the Virginia Circuit Court Case Information System or through the county's own case search at pwcva.gov. Both let you search by defendant or plaintiff name, case number, or hearing date. Results show general case information, hearing records, and disposition. Juvenile cases, adoption cases, and sealed records are not available through the online system.

Documents for current cases have been scanned and can be viewed on computers at the Judicial Center in three locations: room 310 for criminal records, room 314 for civil records, and room 305 in the Public Service Center. Prince William County Land Records Online

The county clerk provides online access to a wide range of land records. The free index search lets anyone look up records by name or document type. If you want to view or download an actual document image, there is a fee of $0.50 per image plus a $2.00 Internet Convenience Fee.

For high-volume users, a subscription plan is available. Remote access through the Land Records Management System costs $240 per year for unlimited access. A signed agreement is required. The main access portal is the Virginia Secure Remote Access system, which provides the same index and image access.
